Job Description

The division operates globally across several pillars of service, including Securities Operations, SwapClear and Listed Rates Operations, Onboarding Operations, Collateral Management, Client Services, Regulatory Reporting, and Market Data. We partner with internal and external customers to proactively deliver compelling, resilient, and competitive CCP Operations that minimise risks and maximise returns through flexible, timely and innovative engagement.

Role Description:

We are currently seeking a motivated and driven individual to join LCH Operations in the role of Senior Associate, Clearing Operations, located in Manila. Manila is a new location LCH launched in 2024 to support our growing business, in addition to the existing locations of London, New York, Sydney and Singapore. All our offices work closely together as one team. The Clearing Operations team has specific responsibility for undertaking daily operational processes aligned to our EquityClear, ForexClear, RepoClear and SwapClear businesses. The team is also responsible for undertaking processes relating to the daily management of collateral (cash and non-cash) to reduce counterparty credit risk, and supports the processing of front office investment activities, which is predominantly reverse repos. The team works across three zones to support the firm’s members and clients clearing needs.

The candidate will be part of a team of Clearing Operations specialists who will perform sophisticated but routine day-to-day activities rotating across the different asset classes, providing the opportunity to develop a deep understanding of our products, internal systems, and processes. Candidates should have experience working for either an investment bank in a collateral or cash management role, a clearing house or custodian. Some knowledge of OTC derivatives (interest rate swaps) processes is beneficial, along with familiarity with currency cut offs and the payment messaging infrastructure (SWIFT). Prior experience participating in migrations is also desirable.

Key responsibilities of the role will include, but are not limited to:

Collateral Operations

  • Undertakes margin call management across 19 different currencies.
  • Monitoring and sweeping of cash across internal accounts for funding and investment.
  • Monitors and handles the instruction and settlement of bilateral and triparty securities trades. Performs daily reconciliations, break resolution and break reporting across all cash and securities accounts.
  • Processing of Corporate Actions relating to Front Office investment activity and member collateral. Reconciles and pays collateral and related fees.
  • Supports all clearing services, members, and suppliers with queries and requests

Other Responsibilities

  • Understand default management processes for clearing services and participate in annual fire drill exercises.
  • Work closely with operational teams in other locations to build knowledge and complete daily activities.
  • Manage own workload independently, whilst raising any issues or incidents with line management. Ensure internal procedures are followed, correct, reviewed regularly, and kept up to date.
  • Production of daily, weekly and ad-hoc MIS for internal and external interested parties.
  • Participate in Internal Audit reviews within the department as the need arises.
  • Identify self-development areas on an ongoing basis and put in place action plans with line manager.

Essential experience and skills required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accountancy, Mathematics, Economics or any related discipline
  • Exposure of working in an operations role within a financial services or FMI environment.
  • Knowledge of collateral / OTC derivatives and / or central clearing processes.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Detail orientated with excellent numerical / analytical skills.
  • Ability to understand technical complexity of clearing processes.
  • Risk and control mindset.
  • Strong ability to learn and develop product knowledge.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritise.

Digital Competencies:

  • MS Office Suite with advanced Excel skills desirable
  • Microsoft Power Platform
  • Swift Alliance Message Management beneficial.
  • Advantageous to know CREST, Clearstream, EuroClear, BONY and Calypso.
  • Proficient in SQL
